Weight Loss

Dear Patients,

If you find your self here then you are certainly making the right steps in your weight loss journey. We only want to support you in this endeavour. There is a great deal you can explore and we appreciate as time passes there is an evolution of resources available on the NHS. To offer you help where possible is the primary reason for the creation of the information below.

There are many different types of anti-obesity medicines that have been tested in clinical trials and now in use. There are specific ones that have proved to be safe and effective for use in the NHS. To ensure safety and efficient use of limited resources, patients need to meet eligibility criteria currently for weight management. We endeavour to offer this to you as soon as we can but equally if you think you do qualify and we haven't made attempts to reach you this could be because you weren't picked up on the searches due to a coding issue. You are welcome to have a discussion with your GP or our specialist nurse but please take a moment to study the strict eligibility criteria since we can only offer a set number of appointments a day and unable to handle an influx demand. We have tried to keep things as simple as possible for you and will change the information as any change occurs.

Thank you.

SMC GPs and Nursing Team.
Ps. We appreciate there are other resources and calculators out there but due to limitations of sharing on an NHS site we are limited in our signposting.
